Fun targets to shoot at an Indoor Range?

I was getting tired of paper targets and started shooting at tennis balls on a string for awhile, which was fun but I'm starting to get tired of that as well.

What other things should I try to shoot at?

The target must be safe to shoot at in an indoor range and can't cause much of a mess.

Since they let me shoot at tennis balls, I assume I can bring something else soft to shoot at, such as a plush animal. My sister has a Hello Kitty doll that she'd let me shoot at.

Teletubbies and Barney would be high on my list. Both drove me nuts during the 90's. My first born loved both of them back in the days.

Latex balloons but it does leave shards behind. By inflating them just enough, bigger than your fist, does minimize the shards.

Spent shotgun shells. They make awesome targets!! They are rather difficult to hit, but react like mad when you hit them. They really help you focus on that front sight! They are great if you are allowed to walk down range to stand them up, but if you can't- just throw a few down range and shoot them where they land.

I was going to say "tannerite" but then you've got to go and request something safe and not messy...

"I didn't know my sister kept her stash of tannerite in her stuffed animals, I swear!"

The thing is, besides hanging up tennis balls like you already mentioned, most things besides paper would leave a mess or be unsafe to shoot at bouncing around on the ground(like some of those rimfire targets that move around when you hit 'em).

i was trying to come up w/some games for the range

like a paper target w/billiards painted on it and play 8-ball or something like it

I like to take the empty .22 ammo boxes, stuff them with paper from an old target, tape one end closed, then clip the box to the target hanger. If I feel a little off that day, I'll suspend the box from a piece of masking tape I fold over so I don't hit the target hanger. The box will move when you hit it.

I remember seeing another guy hanging a piece of string or twine from the target hanger. He'd shoot at the string. People in the range would be impressed because he could make the string move. Then he told me the secret. You don't have to actually hit the string. If you get close, the shockwave from the bullet will make the string move. If you actually hit the string, the movement is much more violent.

Nearly impossible anyway. The best I did, I went shooting with an old friend from my past who was an experienced shooter. I sent a torso out to the ten, gave it eyes, a nose, a smiley mouth, a couple to the heart, and then shot its' privates with the mags' remainder. The whole range went silent in awe, (10mm auto), and he looked at me and said, "Damn dude, you have issues....."

I like to tape a playing card to the middle of a plain piece of paper and try to hit each diamond/club/clover/heart. So 9 of diamonds 9 shots one in each diamond (well i try at least! lol)

Plus pictures! I have old business cards and do a "4 corners" type deal but that's still paper.

In my experience I haven't found a successful way to mount anything other than paper to the target holds, especially because its not my range...

But tin can ranges outside...anything I am going to throw away, usually sees the end of its' life downrange.
