Widener's & Southern Ohio Gun Experiences?

    Hey Calgunners,

I've been looking for some cheap ammunition and came across Wideners (www.Wideners.com) and Southern Ohio Gun (www.Southernohiogun.com). They had the ammunition I was looking for, for a decent price.

I'm just curious as to whether these sites are legitimate and do they have good customer service?

And also, if you had have good or bad experiences with these sites please do tell

    Thanks Calgunners

I have made several purchases from Wideners and they have always delivered it timely. I check them whenever I am looking for reloading equipment or supplies. My biggest complaint with them is that they always seem to be out of stock of what I want.
Check back later for a witty comment.

I buy a fair amount from them; always treated me right. Graf and Son has good deals on reloading stuff too.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. Looks like I'll be giving Wideners my money sometime this month.

Bought a rifle and some components from them a few times. Everything was good. Nary a problem.

ordered lots of ammo from both, great service, even had to return a derringer-type pistol to SOG, they accepted, no questions asked

Southern Ohio Guns. I registered with them with my 03 C&R. I bought several guns from them until..............I ordered a M1 Garand. Hand picked good shape no problems.
It took 2 weeks to get to me and when it did I was more than disappointed. The rear sight was broken, the stock was cracked and most of the blue was gone from the metal.
I sucked it up and took it apart to clean it. I ran hot water down the barrel and started
scrubbing with a bore brush, pure rust poured out of the barrel. I then ran a swab down the barrel, sounded like hair being pulled out of my head. I aimed the receiver at a bright light and looked down the other end. It looked like a rusty water pipe.
On Monday I called them, She said, we have been having a lot of these returned. I said they are junk. I told her I paid 25 dollars for hand pick, I was hoping they were looking for the best not the worst, she said, well, we don't have a gunsmith here, we do the best we can. I said, ok, send me a return ups tag and I send it back. She said no, you pay for the shipping. So, I ended up paying shipping for the junk, to me and then to them, 60 bucks. Before I hung up, I asked her to look at my account and tell me how much I had spent in the last 2 years, she said about 4 thousand dollars. I said, I want the 30 dollars I paid my way and a ups tag back to you, she said no.
I said, may I speak to your boss, she said he wasn't in. I then told here to take me off of the mailing list and close my account with them, she said ok and hung up. That was the last business I did with them.

Both are excellent suppliers. I have purchased from both for several years without problems.

Wideners is great for ammo, powder and bullets.
Once UPS busted a box of 1000 bullets and I received maybe 400 of them in a bucket. I called Wideners and they sent me the balance plus 100 for free.
I miss the days of 8lbs of 4895 delivered for $89

Both have been good to me.
