    11 Day wait

I am not going to name the ffl's since the people that assisted me were all real nice and I know it is not their policy, but the stores policy. I did a ppt on a gun 10 days ago and figured I would call before driving 2 hours and finding out the hard way whether I could pick it up. I didn't receive anything stating about the 11 days on the paperwork I received but I had a feeling about it. When I called I asked about my pickup date and they said it would be tomorrow and that their policy is 11 days. Now I understand for big 5 since firearms aren't their main business but if you have a ffl, how hard is it to figure out 240 hours?!? I hate the fact that I have to wait 10 days but to throw another day on there because they can't count is ridiculous, kinda like salt on the wound. To top it off I sold a shotgun to a guy today and that ffl gave him a pickup time of 11 days as well! The places where I normally buy guns don't pull this crap and to the ones that do, well I won't support your business. Rant over.

How about a 22 day wait; I bought a Ruger at the Del Mar Gunshow on July 16th;went to pick up on 27th and was told it "didn't go thru" so they will have to resubmit !!! Another 10 day wait(which is really 11 days; so August 6th, if they didn't mess up this time!! A wasted 80 mile trip!!

Ouch! They didn't even bother to call you so you could redo it?

As for it is what it is, I won't put up with it, especially when there are dealers in the bay area that don't make you wait 11 days.

I don't like it either but they had what i wanted for a good price.

Maybe you can sue them to change their 11 day waiting period policy.

I know how you feel the last few purchases have been an 11 day wait up here in Sac Valley at two different places.

But usually most places clearly give you a pick up date on the receipt.

I just got the 11-day deal from a local dealer. They said it was their policy, "just to be safe". I understand not wanting to risk their license, but you know making the effort to look at a time-stamp in order to keep customers happy seems worth it, no?

              Yeah, this state is ridiculous.

Sucks, but it's for liability reasons.

It covers their *** so a dumb employee can't hand a firearm to a customer 5 minutes early. It's so commonplace that it's strange this topic appears weekly.

Again, what is so hard with looking at when it was purchased? This isn't rocket science, its simple math.

What I posted required simple reading.

They don't want to find out that an employee is a moron as they lose their business because someone handed it over 5 minutes early. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that.

Is it paranoia? Yes. Is it unfouded? Possibly. Can it happen and people end up losing their business? Yes.

If you don't want to wait 11 days, shop elsewhere.

I do shop elsewhere. I find it annoying when they don't say off the bat they have a 11 day wait period. It could be something as simple as "hey, we are over paranoid and we hire idiots so we make you wait 11 days to make sure we cover our butt."

Whenever I hear "11 days, just to be safe" I always ask, "Is it because you can't tell time?"

They probably did and you missed it, most shops tell you the pick up date and put it on the invoice/receipt.

No and no, it was never mentioned or put on the receipt and I almost drove 3 hours for nothing.
