What does the 1st amendment have to do with making sure your kids aren't doing drugs?

Maybe he should read over the Constitution before referring to it in his videos.

Whats even scarier is the amount of people that said: Yes, this man should be our Senator!

It may be hard to believe, but many parents believe their children have a right to privacy...

A right to not just close their bedroom door, but to lock it...

Many parents feel that it would violate their children's rights to go through their room and possessions...

Many children today have a since of entitlement, and that they do indeed possess these rights. That their parents have no right to come into their rooms and go through their personal belongings...

Many parents don't want to be figures of authority to their children, they want to be their children's best friend. So in their minds, to go and search their children's rooms would violate that friendship...

Seriously it has gotten this bad?

I guess I'm just getting old now, but I thought the way my parents handled the issue was probably the best way to go. Basically I had the privilege of privacy until my parents determined I'd abused it. Then when that happened, they would just remove my bedroom doorknob. 6 months later, I might get it back. I spent several years as a kid with a big hole where a doorknob would be....

There are no First (or Fourth) Amendment Rights in my home either. If I don't like what you are saying, you better STFU! (I might search your person too :P)

Honestly, I don't think it was that bad. His presentation was not so great. But his points were valid.

                            - Its your hour, your rules.
                            - You have the right to search anyone's room
                            - He is not coming out against guns, just illegal ones.
                            - Pointers on what could be suspicious activity.

I know it sounds lame to many of us. But there are parents that need to hear this. They expect the kid to just tell them "hay, I use drugs now so give me my space."

my parents would take the door off, whoop my *** and then ground me for a month if i locked my door without permission or said that they couldn't go through my stuff.

they would always tell me "you can do whatever you want once you move out, but my house my rules."
