That is really odd, I just got back from my local Walmart a few hours ago. Bought 2 boxes of 100 9mm rounds per box of Winchester (white box). Great price, well at least cheaper than at my local gun shop.

I didn't see any signs and had no problems buying it; there were several calibers too. I guess as someone above said someone must be playing a joke or something or maybe that store was having some issues.

100 round WWB FMJ .45ACP value pack was $35.90 this morning in Bakersfield.

Asked the clerk about fingerprinting, possible COE applications and the possibility of selling firearms. All he had to say was ~'he hopes they don't start selling guns, too much hassle (for his low salary)'~ and "new ammo laws" are the reasons for fingerprinting and background checks.

A few more minutes of conversation and it became clear to me, he wasn't a gun guy, nor had he any clue about gun regulations. He had only been entrusted with the key to the ammo case...

Yup, pretty much this. Plus if they did post a sign on the glass, it would be either be placed inside the glass, or more likely placed on the front of the glass with the entire sign stuck on it like a huge decal. The print out in the picture looks like somebody just printed it out on Legal size paper and just taped it up.... probably to run home and grab his friends to come back later and buy up the ammo they need (most likely a store employee, otherwise they may just remove it if the store manager saw it).

Besides, lately with Walmart ammo prices going up, buying online or at gun shows are actually becoming a much better deal now.

I wasn't sure if this was intended for me but it was just a little over $24 per box of 100 9mm.

That would make sense except for I called the store later and they said it was no joke see post #9

I've never really found walmart ammo to be affordable. What am I missing? Their .223 is like $10+ a box. That aint exactly cheap.

Hey just a warning to you all (just trying to be a nice guy so take it for what its worth) but ask for ammo that was in the back of their storage case and inspect the box/ammo. I being a bit of a newbie didn't really check my boxes until I got home and didn't notice the boxes were slightly torn, big mistake on not checking. Late last night I am loading the 9mm into old boxes (that have better holders) to get ready for my next range session and what do I find? I am missing two bullets; I know its just 2 bullets but that is about 50 cents, I was so mad. I looked all through the house, the car and nothing. Call them this morning and pretty much get the cold shoulder and that they don't care although they did appreciate us warning them that someone may have taken some bullets.

Just thought I would share that, taught me a lesson, next time I buy in bulk boxes at Walmart I am counting them before I leave the store!

AT least 20% cheaper than your local gunshop.... (that's why they hate the WM threads here on CG )

Yeah I learned my lesson the hard way when I opened up a box of Winchester and the bullets were covered in oxidation. Now I check each box I buy to make sure they don't have crud all over them.

This happened to me at the sportsmans warehouse a while back, bought a bunch of .223 in 20 round boxes they had on sale. When I finally openned them a couple days later they all had one or two rounds missing each box Someone who worked there had to have been going through and pulling rounds out of the unsealed boxes.

I called and told them, but I knew there was nothing they could do. Pretty much all places have a no return policy on ammo, and it's not like I could prove they were missing before I left.

Can I get a price check on their Federal .223 100rd value packs por favor?
