I wonder if I go to the grocery and ask the produce manager for some banana clips, would they have any? If you can't find banana clips, split them up and have a banana split.
That article is the worst comparison they can come up with. Why not ask the questions as to why police where not armed and ready to repel the bad guys. First I blame the guy for the killings but the cops not being prepared for this event is unbelievable.

That was vomit worthy. What rational person looks at an act of violence like this, and devotes their energies to scrutiny of the weapon, the least pivotal element?

This is the most important point. It exemplifies their worldview. And it shows just how out of touch with realty they are. If it wasnt a Ruger it would have been some other brand. If it wasnt a gun it would have been a crossbow or machete if those werent available, it would have been a bat or a sharp stick...

Would the death toll have been reduced? Maybe, but I dont think thats the point. This guy was determined, and he planned this for a long time. The fact that his murderous rampage lasted so long before anyone tried to stop him, is what I first focused on. The account of the police trying to get to the scene reads like a three stooges episode. He could have used a single shot break open rifle and still had plenty of time to kill as many children as he wanted. I think a rusty old .38 or even a shot from a flare gun could have slowed him down, or even stopped him.

When mass shooters do this there are three outcomes.

He decides he's had enough/ kills himself
The police kill him/ take him into custody
or someone shoots back
