    family transers

    i know that i can just transer a rifle or a pistol and send in the form with my immediate family (ie: dad, mom, kids) but can i do it with my in-laws too?

    No, it only works up and down your family tree.

      You could give it to your child who could give it to his/her grandfather, from there it cound go to a sister or brother in-law.... It'd just take a couple jumps.

            Remember, with handguns it is cheaper and faster to just do a PPT rather than go up or down the family tree more than one person on a "family" transfer.

            Grandchild to grandfather family transfer = $19 + gramps needs an HSC

            Grandchild to grandfather to uncle family transfer = $38 + gramps and uncle need HSC's

            Grandchild to uncle PPT at local FFL = $35 + uncle needs an HSC

            With long guns you can go crazy with the "family" transfers since there is no paperwork or fee.
