Interfamilial transfer question

I was told by my FFL that this one (the one I really want, wood grips!) is NOT on the list:

If my father who lives in AZ buys the 2nd one, can he do an interfamilial transfer to me, in order to bypass "the list"?

Yes, as long as he is your blood relative or you have been legally adopted. Stepfathers don't count, much to my dismay.
