Transporting firearm on airlines

I will be going to Nevada and need to take my handgun. What is the best and cheapest case to use? Anything I need to know besids hard case with a lock?

How about ammo? How much can I bring?

You can get Pelican 1150 for under $25. Perfect for a single pistol. And it's lockable!

To simplify things, don't bring ammo aboard a plane. Just buy ammo in Nevada once you arrive. Much less hassle. As to how much ammo? Depends on what you plan on doing there. Range? Hunting? Tactical pistol class?
