An even better idea would be for gun owners who are near each other (say within 50 miles) to get together with some cooperative FFLs and PPT each others handguns in a loop until it makes it back to the original guy. Cooperative local FFLs would be required since they would actually store the guns.
It has been claimed by many that one way to defeat various special lists that invade privacy and individual rights is for a large number of people to get on it. Don't know if there are enough gun owners and dealers to pull this off though.
It would be fun if every gun owner that a cop pulls over in a given neighborhood has the same guns registered to him/her
