    .36 J.H. Dance replica

    After i bought this revolver from an old couple at an antuique store i found out that there are many different types of replicas for it. there are some that are three hundred dollars and can be used for everyday shooting and some that are $5000 dollars and keepsakes. i would like to know if anyone can point me in the direction i need to go to find out which one i have

    If you can determine the manufacturer, it will go a long way toward establishing value. There is a document with some information on dating and identifying Black Powder revolvers here:

    The one in your photos looks like a $200 shooter to me. It also looks like a Colt replica, as the Dance & Brothers model has a flat frame behind the cylinder.

      Not a dance, a brass framed 51 navy. Used, worth about $75.00. Retail about $200.00

      Dance revolvers have a flat frame with no recoil shield and a round dragoon style barrel.

      Just do a google for brass framed 51 navy images and you will see plenty...
      TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
      The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

        thanks, after some research i knew i had a replica but i found some sites offering five grand for .36 replica's if they were of a certain make and model. The reference you gave helped a lot i was able to pin point the year it was made but not the manufacterer.
