Go weekday mornings if you don't want to deal with the crowd.

I quit going to Spenceville. Way too many gang bangers and general idiots in attendance.

Please don't "shoot weapons that make other people "nervous" " unless they are legal. It may just be another reason for DFG to shut the place down. There are enough idiots at Spenceville who leave garbage and practice unsafe shooting already.
And yes, weekdays early or late are best. As you get closer to deer season opening (D3 zone) it gets really packed.

Google Maps Smartville Road and Waldo Road.

About a quarter mile south of that intersection on Waldo Road.

                Spenceville Range.

CalGuns rules are that you pick up all of your shooting garbage and little bit more besides so we can help keep it from being completely trashed. Some folks here generally organize a big cleanup once a year or so.

As has been said here the best time to shoot is just after dawn before it gets crowded or crazy.

The last few times that I have been there I have been nearly shot by some really unsafe people. I go to either Ice House or up in Oroville to shoot.

I always get the heebeejeebies out there for just that reason. THe IQ out there does seem to be a tad low (unless I'm there).

Just like Cow Mountain outside of Ukiah. It was shut down awhile ago. Don't know if it's open again. Bad mojo all around.
