The last build I'll be doing for a while, since I'm heading to college on Saturday. To be honest I need a break anyway, it's all I've done all summer.
Didn't have time to finish the handguard. The build has some very minor flaws but only in appearance. I took it to the range today and put around 80 rounds through it, and it runs like a champ. I'd have liked to shot more but they only allow loading five rounds at a time in "assault type weapons"
. Still no rear sight, didn't have time to make one. I also forgot to reinstall the front sight post after parkerizing it, so I when I was shooting it the shots were landing all over the place. Luckily there weren't too many people there otherwise I'd have put holes in everyone's targets
.The gas tube assembly is simpler than my last one and is a bit longer. It holds the carrier in perfect alignment at all times to ensure smooth cycling. It is also permanently attached with a rivet.
Shown with a 10/30 mag, it looks cooler that way.
