To complain that a new 1911 is not CA approved, is to either fundamentally misunderstand the Roster, the 1911 design, or both.
Ruger has probably done more than any other manufacturer in terms of getting their new designs on the roster, that this model is not approved is not meant to be a slight at CA gun owners.
Not singling you out, just clearing the air because people ***** at 1911 makers every time a new model comes out and it's not on the roster."Any unarmed people are slaves, or are subject to slavery at any given moment." - Dr. Huey P. NewtonComment

As good as Ruger has been about getting their guns on the roster, I'd expect it to show up after a while.
From what I've read on other forums and from what I've herd from out of state friends, it is pretty nice, but nothing special.
Ruger has been making 1911 parts for a long time and they understand what it takes to produce a basic working 1911. Their hook in the entry level 1911 segment is that they are manufactured domestically...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Proforce in Brea sells it for $619 for at least two months already. I asked them a few weeks ago and they have at least 20+ in stock. The only good thing IMO with the Ruger SR1911 is the price and it is made in the old USA. But if you decide to SSC it, you will end up paying full retail price on it. There are better option out there in that price range.Last edited by RollingCode3; 07-09-2011, 8:16 PM.Any gun owner who does not support the NRA is a freeloader.

Nice looking pistol
The first thing I looked for was the WARNING label Ruger puts on everything, they put it on the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard...thankfully not on the slide.
