How do I ship a rifle within the state?

Hello I just sold a rifle to a fellow calguner, he also lives in CA but very far away, so I have to ship the firearm. Is there any procedures or restrictions I have to follow to ship the rifle?

And yes, I am shipping to his designated FFL.

Put it in a box and ship it. Use some good packing and just UPS it.

Oh,boy..i went thru all the B.S shipping an M1 to a fellow calgunner. I studied and tried to do everything rigt. I found In the end,the best, most inexpensive,BS free way to do it is to box the rifle GOOD. in a cardboard box, well padded and concealed so it could be anything. Go to the US post office. Tell them you want to ship it Priority mail, with delivery confirmation and or signature. When/if they ask, tell them its a machinery parts. Insure it for what you want.
When I originally went to the post office and asked about shipping a refle,I got three different answers from 3 different employees on how I could not ship a rifle, although you can legallyship one thru USPS...none of them knew the procedure (including the manager) Save the headach and do as I said. You can use UPS or Fedex, but you will pay twice( or 3x) the $... I think the whole deal with insurance was 22 bucks..the guy got it the next day too....my 2 cents
