    Pre-ban Mags?

I keep reading about pre-ban mags on this site as well as others. What, if any, is the difference? Just curious. I keep seeing hi-cap pre-bans for sale over on ar15.com and it seems like the mags that are marked pre-ban seem to be going for quite a bit more money.

As far as the Federal AWB that would be a mag mfg prior to 1994 but the California ban was 01/01/2000.

There is no federal AWB anymore since it sunseted in 2004 10 years after it was enacted so that date of mfg is not really important to those in the PRC only the pre 2000 date is an issue in California.

    Make sense ?

Thanks. That makes sense. But, what is the difference in a mag bought back in 1997 and one bought in 2007? Are mags produced after 2000 or 2004, stamped differently then mags produced prior to 2000. In other words, if there is no differences or markings, why do people mention the pre-ban when selling?

The post ban mags might have a date on them. If I didn't live in CA I could care less if they were pre or post ban and would probably prefer to buy a newer mag. In California, you are stuck to 10 rounds period. So here none of that matters because you currently can't buy large capacity magazines.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Pre ban still matters in some states, just not ours. Some states with hi-cap mag laws allow their subjects to purchase 10+ mags as long as they are "pre-ban"

You can still buy replacement mag bodies to replace worn out or broken legal pre bans you might have.

I think New York state allows you to purchase mags that were made before the 1994 ban.
