Good experience at LA Gun Club

Normally I shoot at the Firing line but I am looking for a new gun for my wife and LA gun club has a good selection so we drove over there. It's been a very long time since I was there and I heard a b unch of bad stories of local gangs coming there to shoot, but I had a great time.

They were very helpful and friendly. We rented a couple of .380s for her to try and the CZ kept failing to load on the last round of the mag very singe time. Now so far my experience has been that any time I tell a range that their firearm jammed they always seem to respond "it must be the shooter, our guns don't jam" but the guy behind the counter took the time to ask me exactly what happened and even asked me what I thought may be causing it. We determined it was probably the mag spring getting old and they didn't even charge me for the rental.

Of course the LA gun club is in a horrible part of town and they have a tiny parking lot, but it was s good experience overall.

The LA gun club brings back good memories. About 3 years ago one of my buddies came back home from Iraq and we spent some time there shooting there. What I found unique about the LA gun club was that they have an enormous collection of rental handguns. That is where I test fired a nicely used P220 and found my first desire to purchase a handgun.

It's an ok range. I'd shoot there more often if they let me keep my own brass.

I started shooting their in the mid-90's. I rented 15 different guns there before settling on my first handgun which I purchased there... SIG P229 .40 for $779.

I did my homework as far as the gun I wanted but didn't do enough shopping around for prices. I found the same gun for $200 less at the Glendale Gun Show just a few months later.

They do have a large selection, I just wouldn't go after dark.

Next time you go there put your eyes and ears on, step up to the line, then turn one hundred and eighty degrees and look at the back wall (not backstop) bullets holes and chipped concrete around all over. Saftey issues are of the least concern there. When I do go there I get a lane on the end, and (with permission) I keep a loaded pistol holsterd at all times untill I leave the range.

It's good SM had a good experience. I've never been to the place and I don't think I'd ever have a reason to go.

When somebody asks me which gun for home defense and they honestly are afraid I tell them to move.

If I honestly felt the need to keep a loaded pistol with me at a range I'd go someplace else.

I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Whats the first rule of a gun fight?

Don't get into one - most of you were thinking, "bring a gun" though.

i haven't been there in a while. But i remember when i was testing everything out before i bought my beretta. Some guy from the marines at the counter said if you're looking for a handgun you decided whether you want a 1911 or something else. Then he said from there it's an easy choice either kimber or sig. lol. interestingly enough i bought a P228 a month after the 92fs. And my next gun is most likely a kimber stainless.
