Best Gun Safe for Condo Dwellers?

Hello - My wife and I live in a condo and are looking to pick up a decent safe that suits our needs. The requirements are: 1) Heavy enough not to be hauled off by an intruder (we have no where to bolt it to) 2) Can fit at least several pistols - we have rifles as well but I would be happy just to store the bolts in the safe, and 3) The safe is feasible to move to the second floor (we do have an elevator).

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

You can always drill and mount your safe to the studs. I have my safe in the corner of my closet with 2 sides mounted to studs and 2 screws on each side.

Check out sentry gun safes. I live in a 1 bedroom condo

They have so many models. I have the 14 gun model (they make smaller slimmer versions) I got it at home depot around 350$ (check there website for prices) fits perfect in a random closet we have in our condo. Mine is heavy to the point you need a few ppls help to move it. It also comes with anchors to drill it to the floor from the inside. The sentry 10 gun safe what my buddy has would be really compact and suitable if you don't own too many guns. The sentry safes are CA DOJ approved so it's not to cheap. I love mine and the price was good. I keep 7 rifles in mine, mixture of AKs, ARs with optics and all have full size mags, and precision bolt gun with scope. Also have 4 pistols and lots of random parts, spare mags, ect and I have room for much more if I actually organize it and get a small pistol rack

I don't have a recommendation, but like Farnsworth mentioned, you should try to at least mount it to the wall studs. A thief can't tell the difference from looking at your safe and will deter him that much more from trying to make off with it.

Well I think the Cannon and Big Horns from Costco are pretty good suggestions. I also think the Zannotti safes are kind of cool but they are pricey.

Look into Snap Safe. I put one together and it seems pretty stout after it is assembled.

Unfortunately it looks like the price has gone up.

get a safe larger then you want/need fill the bottom with lead weight/chains/anything heavy that you can load yourself now safe is to heavy to carry away and no holes.

Get a quality safe that will fit in a closet. There are many out there and you can just shop around for one that you can afford and will fit in your closet.

But bolt it to the studs! My safe ways 1000 lbs empty and probably 1500 lbs full. I know if I did not care what damage I did moving it I could have it in the back of a trailer in <15 minutes by myself. So unless the safe is so big and you build a room around it it can be moved easily unless bolted down.

Stay away from those cheap metal cabinet/safes they can have the doors popped open easily.

As others have said, bolt it to a stud or studs. Seriously, the damage you will cause to your closet wall is negligible compared to the extra security it will offer you. And it will really only offer you 2-10 minutes more time to break your safe - which is A LOT during a robbery. When you move you can spend a couple hours repairing the drywall/baseboard damage, it's easy. And if you don't want to spend the time doing that then you can pay somebody $100 to do it.
