Weird PM this morning...

CavTrooper, I don't think the PM would have been a big deal if he hadn't specifically asked if -hanko knew anybody with an M4 or M16. Us civilians gotta be on the lookout for gov't trolls on a board that is known to be frequented by DOJ & ATF personnel and because unlawfully possessing one of those items brings 10 years in club fed.

Your duty, as a law abiding, ambassador of gun owners everywhere is to enlighten the guy. let him know that the M16 series weapons are military specific, and that while you cannot legally own or posess one in CA, you can own or posess SIMILAR rifles, and whether you can help him or point him in the right direction.

Let the Govt trolls come, let them try to do thier evil deeds, as long as you are legal, you have nothing to worry about. People who act guilty, usually are. Like I said, spread the good word, let everyone know what you know!

Simple Solution.....

PM him back and tell him to "Step up" into the light and outta the shadows...if everything is on the up and up then it is all good as Cavtrooper says and we ALL might have someone to converse with.

Unless/until he steps into the light......No keyboard comado here....I calls it like I sees it and IIRC I said very well COULD be true just sniffs/smells really baaaaaad........ But hey- What grunt that been training Doesn't Smell bad right?

If its legit...we could get him and his unit hooked up with what was it...? Operation BoreSnake? and the sort and really make him and his unit feel like they ARE welcomed nad ARE serving thier country for good

Look, I understand your sentiment, however look at it from this guys point of view. He is most likely young, he doesnt know anyone here, and instead of putting himself "out there" to get flamed, bashed, harrased (which most assuredly wouldve happened had he asked this question in a thread) he went to someone he thought might be in a location close to him for a little help.

I can see it from the POV of the forum, suspecting an attempted "sting" or something, obviously, its not below the tactics of the enemy to try something like this. However, I belive everyone deserves to be taken at face value until they prove otherwise.

Thats my piece, Ive said it, and now Im done with it. Hopefully someone will understand what i am trying to say, since Im not the most articulate person around, and the next person wanting become part of the group will be welcomed more openly.

Hey guys, I think this may be some one I sent here; he does not know the SOP. I had a young guy come into the range a few days ago and ask about some trigger time, due to the fact that he was by himself I could not rent him a gun. He explained that he was deploying in OCT and wanted to get some trigger time esspecialy on an AR type. I told him to check out Calguns and make the offer to pick up somebody's range fee's and ammo for some trigger time with them. This might be him PM(ing). I saw his ID and he is in the National Guard, very young and inexperienced; if it is him, take it easy on the kid he just wants to get some basic knowledge that anyone here could help with. I would take him out my self, but I'm up to my neck in work right now. So If anybody here can help out. It would be as my people say a "Mitzvah" (good deed). You guys are the best thanks again.

It's disgusting how little firearm training is received by troops sent into Combat Zones and it seems like it's less and less... So if he's just out of Basic and deploying in a month - doesn't he suppose to have "Combat Training" or is just the Marines?

I hope he gets a "hook up" from someone on this board - I'd offer but I don't have an AR-type weapon... I could have my M1A out for the occasion.

He'll probably head out to NTC or JRTC for additional training. As a Reservist or NG Soldier, training is really very limited. There's only so much you can do one weekend a month.
