The Dream Collection...

I have always been into the military/tactical type guns. At times I have had a really well rounded collection only to get a wild hair up my rear to sell almost everything off and start over again. Usually because I sort of fell out of love with a particular gun. The only firearm to survive every culling of the herd is my M4gery.

I keep telling myself I will limit myself to 2 each of a particular class of weapon system. But I keep finding really cool deals on guns that fit into a class that is already full. So instead of growing my collection, I just keep replacing the guns I already have with something new (to me) and more exciting.

Right now my gun collection has only 4 guns in it. So it is a perfect point to start adding guns from categories I normally ignore.

In any case, here is my current "wish list":

What would your dream collection look like and what criteria would you use in deciding what to get?

You need a 22 pistol or conversion kit.

That's one of those things that really isn't my speed. By the time I got around to it, I would already be in the mood to upgrade something to a higher end item.

The super long barrel thing kinda bugs. If we could have SBRs here in California my collection would look VERY different. I was issued an SBR (GAU-5A/A) when I was in the military, and have a real weekness for them. I would go without the Carbines all together if not for our lame laws.

Both the USC and the Kriss are very sexy guns in their intended SBR configuration.

More my father's taste than mine. He would love your suggestion of a 22lr pistol as well. Maybe in a few years I'll want the western stuff and even pickup an old SA 6 Shooter. They are cool, I just want the Rambo stuff more (my Dad's words not mine). My speed is more a collection that screams "I'm bored. Let's invade Venzula and shut that Chavez guy's mouth for good!" than it is "Let's go lynch us some horse theives!"

Somehow, I actually have my dream collection.

Glock 9mm
1911 .45acp
Ruger 22lr
(Owned and tried other pistols but settled on these)

.308 Bolt (Long-ish range / Hunting)
.22lr Bolt (Accurate plinker)
5.56/.223 AR (Action shooting and dare I say SHTF)
.22lr AR (Fun plinker/practice)
12ga 18" Semi-Auto (HD and Action shooting)
12ga 28" Pump (Clays / Hunting)
(Each fills most any shooting purpose I'd be interested in)

Lastly, I am happy to have guns that use some of the most common and useful rounds available.

I'm having a hard time convincing myself to get anything else and believe me I have been trying.

And several 50BMG solutions...damn those California laws. 50DTC is so hard to find.

In truth, the real heavy calibers are bit much for me. Mostly because of the expense of the ammo. If each pull of the trigger is a car payment, that's a problem.
