6.5 grendal / 6.5 creedmore ?

I was thinking about selling or just rebarreling my 308 rem. I also dislike the stockon my 308. I was hoping someone can suggest a way I should go, the pros and cons. I will be hunting with it mostly some windy plains coyote and within 150 yards spike or cow elk hunting. I was maybe thinking of a 243, but nobody makes factory loads over 100gr. I do not reload yet ( do not shoot enough).

6.5 Grendel is a much different round than the 6.5 Creedmore.

6.5 Grendel is designed to fit and feed in a standard AR15 magwell, so is loaded to those OAL's.

6.5 Creedmore is its "big brother", if you will, based on fitting in a .308 action.

If you're going either one of those, go with the 6.5 Creedmore.

It depends on what bolt gun you already have. If it is a savage it is relatively cheap and easy to change the caliber. Remington is much more involved. If you keep it then go with the creedmore.

Definitely the Creedmoor. You might also consider a .260.

No. .260, .243, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5x47 Lapua all use the same breechface as .308.

6.5 Creedmoor is a level above the 6.5 Grendel. It shoots heavier bullets much faster giving a much flatter trajectory.

Considering it's coming from the creator of the Grendel, I'd take it with a grain of salt. The 6.5 Grendel isn't bad, but it does not come close to the 6.5 Creedmoor or any of the other similar cartridges in ballistic performance.

I would definitely go with a 6.5 Creedmore (or maybe .260 Remington/Ackley Improved) in your rifle. It kicks the snot out of the Grendel. Of course, it should. It's made for a short-action as opposed to the AR's super-short action. I've wanted a 6.5mm rifle for a while. I just haven't got around to it as my .308 shoots pretty darn good.

Edit: .243 Ackley Improved is another cool one.

The .243 family is a good one, but barrel life is shorter than the 6.5 Creedmoor. It seems like barrel life in the .260 is a little shorter than the 6.5 CM, based on what I've read.

It's possible to get very good match ammunition of the shelf for the 6.5 Creedmoor for a fairly reasonable price.
