    Gotta Love The Uneducated...

Ever wanted a full auto 10/22? I sure do, but the problem is all the silly Kali laws. Until I move out of this state, I'll just have to wait.

Some people just don't care at all and will sell the parts to someone who doesn't know or care about the laws in CA...

Full Auto Conversion of the Ruger 10-22 Semi-Automatic - $100 (concord / pleasant hill / martinez)

I'd wager that since the ad has been up since 6/18 and has not been flagged/removed...it's a trap!

I wonder how many they have caught so far.

Is it actually illegal to sell/ buy the kit?

AK kits come with FA parts right?

I've yet to receive an AK kit with FA parts.

It's like that ad in Shotgun News where they are offering drop in auto sears for the AR15. That ad is always in there so I assume that it is a BATFE sting although it would seem like it was entrapment.
Check back later for a witty comment.

i thought selling the kit was ok, the problems starts when one installs the kit.

Entrapment is when the cops convince you to do something you wouldn't have done to begin with.

"Hey buddy check out this full auto thingamajig, wanna buy?"

"Hey buddy check out this full auto thingamajig, it's legal, wanna buy?"

That's obviously an oversimplified example of the difference, but the second one would be entrapment. Ever watched a show like cops or seen video of a prostitution sting, or drug bust? The cop can't just walk over to you and offer you a BJ or bag of weed. They have to get you to say you want to purchase the bag of weed or pay for the BJ(or ask how much).

Because this ad doesn't do anything to try and convince you it's actually legal(and everyone on calguns right now should know by now that it doesn't matter if it's a firearm or just parts, since constructive possession applies for NFA), and relies on you contacting the "seller" to make the purchase, it's either a sting or an idiot trying to sell one of those crank things for a trigger.

The conversion kit by itself, no, not illegal to buy/own. But the conversion kit plus a 10/22 (complete or in parts), is constructive possession. Very illegal.

As for the AK kit. Yes, you get FA parts, but no functional receiver. So you can't build a FA gun with what they give you. Add a receiver, now you have constructive possession.

Does that mean simple possession/selling/buying of the KIT? or is CP if you have the receiver too as dustoff said?

You have to have possession of the all parts necessary to assemble/build a FA firearm to be guilty of CP.

Possession of only one part, or even several parts is not illegal.

                              This is federal law, BTW.
