I've heard from multiple sources that San Francisco requires that in the application process. What sucks is that if the applicant owns more than 'x' number of guns, they are rejected. Not stated anywhere, but an internal number someone came up with. If the applicant mis-states (e.g. understates) the number of guns owned, the applicant is rejected.

Wouldn't surprise me if some departments would reject applicants based on the type of guns they own...

I've heard that said before. Does any agency require that hired officers then report any transactions following date of hire? I wouldn't be entirely surprised if so, but I've not heard that.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Maybe, but after hire. Has anyone ever been asked to provide this information???

        No.

Where do you get your information that "most" agencies require this?

Please provide proof of your statement....Some may. But "most" ??

Besides just how is a department to know just what types of firearms it's employees own???

As said above the misinformed FUD spreader was probably confused regarding restrictions based on department policy regarding both on and off duty firearms. Departments can limit which firearms their officers carry both on and off duty.
          ^ +1 what SVT articulated!
