They joke with me telling me I'd probably just come rob them and take em anyway. I try to reassure them about safety in numbers and I got enough to supply most of em

Its weird how many people are talking about SHTF/end of days type of things lately... I've been working at the same place for over 10 years and only the last year or so this type of thing comes up frequently from a variety of people. I wonder if spidey senses are tingling or something... weird indeed. My theory is we are going to get hit by a big space rock before any of this happens so why worry about it? Whatever happens happens. Deal with it then. No need to focus on doom and gloom.

Also a bunch of 5 gallon water bottles are very cheap (smart and final) and easy to store. Toliet paper is a must. Sadly I learned the hard way in boyscouts. Other stuff is in the link and it is self expanitory.

        My disaster kit:

        Spare HDTV
Couple cases of Oreos (which have roughly the shelf life of Strontium-90)
        My GI Joe collection,
149 hubcaps (because you never know),
A pile of blank 8-track tapes,
1 gross of paper clips (the silver ones, obviously)
        Inflatable Bullwinkle
        Inflatable Rocky
        A bottle of water (full!)
        My surfboard
        A tin of mints
A radio shack walkie-talky (don't have the other one, unfortunately)
        Inflatable Angelina Jolie
        A banana
The collected works of Sir Francis Bacon
        A windbreaker
        A squadron of geese
        12 adolescent koi
        My bunny slippers
        Autographed poster of David Niven
Claret-colored cravat (goes with the poster)
3 bottles of chilled Vermouth (ditto)

JK. I've only recently started thinking about this, and have gotten some good guidelines from this thread. I'm NOT kidding about the bunny slippers, though.

        Cheers!

A swimming pool is a good source of water. Its heavily chlorinated, usually 1ppm or so, but can be boiled to provide drinkable water or at least for washing and flushing the loo.

It's nice to have all your stuff at home to Alamo up or think of getting in your car and getting hitting the road.

What if you are like a lot of people that commute 50 miles each way? You are gone from your house at least 10 hours a day 5 days a week. How are you going to walk home? It's hard to believe to travel that far you won't have to go through indian country.

You just might want to think about getting home.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

You forgot the maps of those to who posted above,
and luckily they forgot to pack their guns and ammo as well

Live on a houseboat/yacht. You don't have to worry about bugging out, earthquakes knocking everything loose, or leaving. Just up anchor and head on out. If you are in the delta, you have fresh water, fish, as well as your entire kitchen... you are off the grid!

I'm not on the water, though... so I'm stuck stocking up on batteries and honey too. Ah well.

Thats funny... I can totally picture some of our members doing just that

My original plan was to sit tight and try to wait out the intitial crazyness and then make a run for it.

But if I have enough advance warning or learn about it quick enough, I may just take a tac vest full of ammo, my glock, and sling my M4gery over my shoulder pick up the wife and take my motorcycle to try and get a jump on traffic.

I have places out of town with supplies that I can head for, but I think getting to them will be hard.

Its just something I've been tossing around in my head.

If I get stranded at school/work/??? I keep a folding survival rifle, watter ammo and basic nececities for emergencies

I agree that the Glock is fine, but riding through town with an AR on your shoulder might get you shot by the police. Seeing how a guy was stopped with a long case, I don't want to know how the holes in you will look like when the shooting stops.
