A Web Site for Gun People...

Well, I didn't know this existed. Of course DOJ is probably monitoring this site, but thats Ok. I'm not married to them anyway. Thanks all for being here. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you,

Yes, thank you! Nice place here, especially for all the California specific info.

I've been lurking for a couple weeks, reading and learning what I can from here. Finally decided on and purchased my first handgun yesterday, an XD-9. And I managed to do it without my own "What's the best first gun?" thread

*claps* and welcome every one to CGN. There are is some advice I have for you before you start posting everything you want:
            1) The AR/AK FAQ at the top of the page is your friend. Read it, understand it, then ask about AR/AKs
            2) Ignore the threads about "Is tomorrow the day the list comes out" or something like that. They generally have very little information, other than the people with common sense saying "If the list comes out tomorrow, it comes out tomorrow. If it comes out in 3 weeks, it comes out in 3 weeks, dont worry about it"
            3) umm....yah......

ok, once again, welcome to the forums.

              Welcome aboard.

If this is your first firearm, or new to the shooting sport, I'd suggest getting to know your firearm and the fundamentals of safe shooting/handling.

Check out your local SD shooting ranges and find out about the NRA basic hangun classes, they'll teach you the 4 rules to safe gun handling, fundamentals of proper shooting technique and all around how to become a great shot.

You've chosen a great handgun, take care of the gun and it'll take care of you. Lastly, enjoy the damn gun and try and meet some of the shooters in your area. Many of them have years of experience as well as advice that will prove to be very valuable.

              Good luck and happy shooting!

Congrats on your new acquisition! And welcome!

Don't worry about the DOJ. Nothing to worry about if something's completely legal.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention. Start saving up because while this might be your first firearm, it certainly wont be your last!
