Lots of uninformed people out there

One of the news networks plays in the break room at work and with all the recent coverage of the ATF's Fast and Furious botch up, I am hearing just how uninformed people are about guns.

I have heard people saying "I can not believe you can just buy full auto weapons" or "I didn't think that you could buy one of those" or "what do you need one of those for". Of course the media keeps saying AK47 but I guess WASR-10 doesn't have the same ring now does it.

I haven't heard it said but I can suspect people are thinking it and at least I know I have been fearing it, that this will give some the motive for another federal ban or stricter gun laws.

All the evidence points to the government forces involved attempting to do exactly that. It appears they were trying to sway public opinion; trying to 'prove' the whole 90% fallacy by allowing more guns to be smuggled to Mexico than otherwise would have been. Nobody knew they were doing this until they were caught, essentially. Well, nobody except those in control, or those with ulterior motives within our government. All we can do is wait and see how everything pans out.

What really kills me is you could know that person 10 years, but whatever you say be damned. Those talking heads must know something you don't......or else they wouldn't be on TV.

I did let them know the truth. But the bigger question is did they believe me? People that have not been exposed to firearms view them as evil weapons of mass destruction. Of course not all but there are a lot that only know what they have been feed by the media.

Yeah, it's an up hill battle when dealing with people who have not been exposed to firearms. On top of that people are lazy and feel more than think.
