Have been using Ballistol (I reenact WWII and the Germans used Ballistol in WWII), but just ordered some Froglube from UTV for comparison purposes.

From the other threads it sounds like you don't want to use Froglube on the exterior of your gun, so I will be trying it on interior parts first.

Coat it.

Good question. FrogLube will stop oxidation. I recently met a gal with a stainless slide XDm that was rusting. Stainless ain't what it used to be, but FrogLube will take care of it. I recently help a CHP officer who's back up was the Ruger LCR that he keeps on his ankle. His slide was rusting, one inch long by 1/2 tall hunk of cancer. We FrogLubed it and the rust spot diminished almost at once.

the owner of FrogLube recommends using it on all metal and plastic surfaces. That is what I have done with all of my firearms. I don't recommend putting it on your grips, though. www.utvtactical.com

After I got everything back together I couldn't rack my slide, it was too slippery. So I had to wash my hands several times and wipe down the slide a few times with clean paper towels.

Not so... I used it on my 1911 compact and the slide is so slick it's hard to get a hold of!

That happened on my Glock! I had to wash my hands several times and wipe down the slide so it wasn't so slick. But man, those internals are like freakin' butter!
