    Bakersfield Gunshow

    At the local gunshow here in Bakersfield today, I found what appeared to be a Beretta Garand conversion. But, it was wierd. The receiver had the original USGI stampings still there.
    Except, the 2nd line, Cal. 30 M1, was "X'd" out. The original serial number was still there. Untouched, not "X'd" out, and a second, new, different serial number was electro penciled below it. The same 2nd serial number was electropenciled on the left side of the receiver heel. I didn't even bother to look at the price, I knew better.
    Is this normal for these conversions? I can see problems with Law Enforcement with a second different serial number on the weapon.

    Then when my buddy goes up to him to talk to him about his Garands, his whole things was that "collectors drive the prices"(supposedly why his are so expensive), and "all the CMP guns come with after market parts".

    This is the guy with and end display, taking up about 10 tables with Garands, Carbines, 1903s, and had them all covered with yellow crime scene tape labeled, "Don't touch".

      That Guy is waaay overpriced! All of his appear to be refinished as well. He has been there for years and I have never seen him sell any firearms. Take anything he says with a grain, no a bucket, of salt!

      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

        Same guy shows up in Fresno. Too much.
        The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

        Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

          I went back today, and asked it how much it was. It is priced at $6500. He says it is a BM63. A BM59 is illegal in CA under the Roberti-Roos AW bill.
