    OCGuns.com - Opinions? Experiences?

Just looked at the Davidsons link through this page and never realized that this place's physical location was so close to where I work in Irvine. Before I head over during lunch today, does anyone have any experiences with this shop? -If you bought from them, please share your experience.

    -Much obliged!

I'm on my lunch, so I went by. -Very strange...

Kinda reminds me of Ades before the OLL's came along.

The front door was locked, but the back room light appeared to be on. -There was not a firearm to be seen through the front window, but there were some watches and other items - no jewelry from what I could see. There wasn't a security cage - nor were there bars on the front windows from what I could tell for after-hours security like most gun shops I've been to. Perhaps he's just doing the FFL thing part-time. I'll check back later next week to see if anyone's home then.

Interesting. Maybe it's a new shop, and they'll be moving in soon? I don't know. I checked their website and gave them a call, but all I got was a voicemail recording. Is this shop near the big tire place on Aspan?

I've never heard of this place. I hope they are not already out of business.

Correct, its right across the street from American's Tire. I liked their price on a G21SF, and wanted to see what they had - which is apparently nothing unless they order it in for you. I'll still check back later.

I sent an email to this shop on Friday using the email address on their website. No reply so far, but it is the weekend so I guess they could be closed in every sense until Monday. Will report if I learn anything. A nearby FFL could be handy, but its not looking good so far.

Have you been to OC Armory? They're on Lake Forest and Del Lago, on the other side of the 5 Freeway from OC Guns. Mike and the other guys are good people over there.

Yes, I've been there. They're usually out of whatever it is I'm in there looking for however and their next shipment is a few days to a week or so out. Decent enough store though.

FYI - sent emails and got replies this a.m. - Sounds very promising. I believe I will buy my .45 from them and report the experience.

                      Emails:

                      Me:
                      To whom it may concern;
I came by your establishment today around 12:30, since I work locally. Is this shop normally open? I didn't notice that the store looked like a regular gun store, since there didn't appear to be any stock. I am interested in buying, but am confused as to how your hours work. Your website appears to be mostly disabled, and is of little assistance.

                      OCGuns:
We were out of town buying firearms on Friday sorry we missed you. We are generally a custom and private store that does firearms by appointment. We are normally here 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday through Friday and always request people call us to make sure we are here as we are in and out frequently. We have a stock of used guns and primarily do FFL and DROS transfers as well. Most new guns are SPECIAL order as our prices are the LOWEST around.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

                      Me:
                      Dear sirs,
Thank you vet much for your response. Such a business is good news for the area. What is your transfer fee schedule for pistols and long arms? What is your fee for private party transfers? -I'm also interested in purchasing an M&P45 or Glock 21SF. -Have not made up my mind yet however.

                      OCGuns:
Our fees to transfer a Hand Gun is $45 (+) DROS $25 for a total of $70. Long Arms are $10 less. PPT transfers are $25. We can get either gun and offer VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES.

Hmm...very interesting. I may have to check them out for my next gun purchase. So it sounds like if you want a new gun from them, you just tell them what you want and they order it for you. Or you can just order one online and have it shipped to their shop. Their transfer fee of $70 is the same as OC Armory. I may have to drop by their shop one of these days just to check out the used gun case.

They're a (green) certified FFL through Buds. I'm thinking about using them for my transfer.
