Places to shoot near McCloud or Mt. Shasta?

    Hi,

Subject line says it all. I'm going to be on vacation for a few days up in the McCloud/Mt. Shasta area, and I'm looking for recommendations on places to go for plinking/target shooting. Thanks.

hahah nice you will be coming up by me(im in weed)

there is a nice range right off of 89. If you are heading towards mcloud from mt shasta.

You will pass the ski resort on the left. keep following the road. the road will turn right then it will start to turn right again and tehre is a little turn off to the right. head down that road(starts off as paved for about 20ft then turns to dirt), and bam you are at a rifle range. The only rules are no glass and no household appliances.

rifle/pistol range on the right and shotgun range on the left.

Dont know when you are gonna be up here, but i will most likely be there saturday and sunday breaking in my kimber(the 10 day wait is over on saturday), and i should have my k31 by then. So, if you see a grey f150 there, and a guy shooting a 1911,k31, or 30-30 leveraction. Then say hi hehe

here's a satellite shot of the place(hope it works)

Map multiple locations, get transit/walking/driving directions, view live traffic conditions, plan trips, view satellite, aerial and street side imagery. Do more with Bing Maps.

that main road that you see is 89 leads straight from mccloud so its easy to find

i forgot to say...bring sunblock or some sort if shade, because there isn't any on the rifle range.

Excellent! Thanks for the map and directions. I'm not sure what day we'll be there (my wife and I both like to shoot) but I'll definitely look for ya.

        Regards,

If I was there, my buddy is a member for a range, $20 bucks a year and they give you a combo to unlock the range. Has shotgun, 100yard rifle and 15 yard pistol.

Can shoot there to your hearts contend, rapid, slow or whatever. It's unregulated and other shooters (if any are there) typically leave you alone as long as you are not doing something stupid.

sounds like the range off of mott road. I prefer the one by mccloud because its free, unregulated, and it has a 200yard rifle range =)
