    Shipping Hi-Cap Mag?

I have a hi-cap mag from my old AR that I sold back before the ban. The mag is useless to me now and would like to trade for some 10/22 parts to a guy in Texas. Can I just ship this off to him or? I live in Cali.
May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.

i think so. but you might want to go and ask someone with a ffl like your favorite gun shop they would have the best info for you.

      Lol at the above statement.

There actually is no exemption in the law for selling a magazine out of state from within California. To sell the magazine you would have to physically sell it out of state.

      (2) Commencing January 1, 2000, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends, any large-capacity magazine.
But really why would you want to? As of now you can't replace that magazine.
      Please, calm down.

I didn't mean to sound offensive if I did. I was more chuckling at the thought of asking an FFL (most, there are exceptions) about California gun laws.

You never know when you are going to get another rifle that uses AR mags. It isn't worth that much to somebody outside CA but you'll never get another one in CA so you might as well hang onto it.

You can ship the mag disassembled as replacement parts.

If it's an early AF 20-rounder with the aluminum follower, be sure you get what it's worth.

CA ffl's may not be the most knowledgeable group as to firearms legalities; kind of like most people with a drivers license not knowing how to drive.

I am a FFL and I agree, don't roll down to the gun shop for legal advise. This is your best source of information.

I always thought law enforcement didn't care if you sold your magazines out of state, but now that I think about it, you are not supposed to offer them for sale. I guess that would mean in or out of state wouldn't it? Unless you consider selling it out of state exporting, which is not prohibited.

I'd love to see them prosecute someone for selling a hi-cap mag out of the state.

"man arrested for removing a hi-powered hi-capacity assault rifle magazine from california"

But on topic, it would probably just be better to pay for the parts and keep your magazine, if it is a rare/valuable one, buy a replacement parts kit for the mag, swap out the parts day by day, then send the old parts to him. You'd have a generic mag, but at least you'd still have a full capacity magazine.
We're not done yet, we're not going quietly. We'll win in the end.

If this is not exporting, then buying a new from out of state is not importing, and therefore legal, I suppose...

                          WHY?

One of those days you may want to get back on AR wagon and you will have normal standard mag to go with it, not this 10 rounder abomination.
How much money you can potentially make by selling it out of state where everybody and their mothers can walk into any gun store and buy a dozen 24/7?

                          Keep it. End of story.

They're not made any more & are unique with the aluminum follower.

Check the magazine faq on arfcom.
