    Shooting in Foresthill?

    Hey guys,

My friend and I are looking for some shooting areas up in the Foresthill area. We went once in the snow and it was empty out there....very secluded. But I just searched out the OHV area and found a detailed map of the area. We scoped out an area, but later today I found this:

We looked at an area labeled "private" in beige.

Do we need permission to go shoot on unfenced land? There is no boundary or marking or "private property: keep off" sign anywhere. And I have heard that shooting anywhere within the Forest Service Land is fine, so long as your not shooting over roads, near roads, buildings, designated public areas, etc. I had no idea that there were private land sections within Forest Service Land.

Is this legal to do? I dont want to cause myself or friends any unneeded hassles.

    Thanks.

Does no one know? Or does anyone at least know who I can talk to in regards to this?

A friend of mine owns property up there... We ride the trail systems all the time and during holiday weekends the place is packed. PLEASE BE CAREFUL when looking for a place to shoot.

Those places marked "Private" ARE private property. Think twice before shooting on land you dont own.

There is a place to shoot down Finning mill rd... its near the loop 3 trail system. There are other threads on CG that have the locations of shooting areas. Search for them.

Good luck, have fun, CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. Foresthill rocks!
