    Is this normal?

I have finally purchased my first rifle! I'm psyched to get it, but one thing confuses me. I purchased it on consignment from a local store and they said the original owner never fired it. When inspected, the consensus from me and two of the employees is that it really wasn't ever fired. I was skeptical. I've posted in the 10 day support group thread, and (i'm guessing) like you all, when i get a new gun, i'm at the range the same day the 10 days is up shooting the bad boy.

is it normal for guys to buy guns and NEVER shoot them and sell them??? Gun store employees said "happens all the time". That's....nuts.

Just wondering if anybody else has seen this/done this. Only rational reasons are something like he got it as a gift and doesn't shoot (not sure if that's even legal) or he got it and his better half got pizzed and made him return it (sell it).

Anyway, curious to hear from the gang.

I still have a Saiga 12 that I haven't taken out yet, so there are I'm sure plenty of others that may have done the same. My only excuse is I hate the range and prefer to go on BLM land but the closest is over a 2 hour drive North.

Yes, it does happen. If I like a gun enough I will buy one to use and one to save as a possible investment.
If anything happen(knock on wood) they are the first to go.

I've actually got a number of them that I've never been able to get out to the range for various reasons. At the same time, while purchasing one rifle (a nice Marlin 39A), the salesman was trying to tell me how little it had been shot...it was about 20 years old and had been owned by a gentleman who is constantly at the range, so I knew it had seen plenty of use, so take what they may say with a grain of salt.

I have a shotgun that I have had for about 3 weeks now and havent fired a single round through it yet. Not going to sell it just havent had the time to take it out yet. I know how shotguns feel so I wasnt in a big rush to go shoot this one.

I am afraid, I one of those guys that buys guns and after six of of not shooting it, I sell it. I sold one with the tag on it. For some strange reason, this only happens with Springfields.

I've problably got more than a dozen that I have never got around to shooting and have had for a year or more. It's not that I don't go shooting. It's just that I can only shot so many at a time.

I have won multiple guns ad DU/CWA/NRA dinners that I really did not need or really want. After keeping them in the safe for a period of time, I decided to sell them to fund the purchase of a different gun that I actually wanted. They were all NIB.
