AR display stand help

I am currently making a display/cleaning stand for my good friend that introduced me to CalGuns as a thank you for helping me with my own AR build and for his birthday.

The base, mag support and barrel support are all made from beautiful oak that was reclaimed from an old desk. The base is large and allows for support of duel AR platforms.

The wood had been meticulously sanded and stained, but before I assemble the pieces for completion I had a thought.

I have seen display/cleaning stands that had separate support for the detached upper supported by the take down pins.

Before I complete this dual AR stand I would like anyone who might know what I am talking about to post even just a pic of what I am describing...I will figure out the rest.

If all else fails I will router out insets and screw in the support stands...and debate keeping this beauty for myself...

I don't think I've seen a display/cleaning stand with what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure you're talking about an upper receiver block.

These things are usually used when installing or removing barrels and handguards.

Maybe that is what I was thinking of, but I could swear I have seen one.

I guess it is not necessary, so I will finish it as is. I will post a pic when I'm done.

Perhaps when I next build one for me I will incorporate this idea...but only if it is something I would use. I made a coffee table out of the rest of the material so I will have to find something new and free to destroy!
