    m16a1 upper on ar lower

I read on here one day about a guy who bought a m16a1 upper on ar15.com, I can't find the thread. I searched a dozen times. Well, I just bought one for $200 shipped. Who ever made the post that they had one, are you happy with yours? Good condition? I'm looking forward to getting mine.

Angus6 is a great guy - got one from him a few months ago. I was VERY happy with mine, paid $250? the upper was like new and the bbl showed no use. You should enjoy yours

Purchased an M16A1 upper from Angus6 in May for $215.00 shipped. No bcg/ch. The finish on the receiver and barrel are in very good shape. The bore is in great condition. The triangular handguards do show some wear, but no chips or cracks. Overall a very nice surplus upper.

Where could someone get so many of them? Gov auctions?

What is the twist rate? What kind of ammo is it good for?

How'd you guys mount those on modern lowers?

Did you need to use a special offset pin?

                    Thanks

Mine is an actual M16 upper, not a SP1 upper. M16 uppers have the small front hole, just like all the newer stuff. It uses all the same parts that are in the LPK. I think it's only a Colt SP1 upper that needs the offset front pin.

1:12. Good for 55 grain ammo. I have heard that 62 will work, but haven't tried.

by "will work", do you mean that it is most accurate with that bullet weight? Can you use any normal bullet, but diminish accuracy etc. Is there a guide somewhere that explains this in more detail?

Don't flame me too much if I have it switched, I think the larger pin uppers were made specifically for the civilian market way back in the day and small hole ones, like we use today, were for the military.
