MSRP $649.00 . No one around here sells for MSRP though, its usually 25-50 cheaper.

This is a net dealer but it shows the more realistic pricing in retail stores. Even buying from this dealer with the $25 dollar transfer fee (standard) and shipping ($20-$30 dollars), youre still getting an outstanding brand of rifle for a good price. Add in the extra fees from CA dealers, you can still gett his rifle reasonably IF its avalible in CA.

So the good prices are out there, but like the dealers on here have stated, the cost of doing buisness in CA is more than anywhere else. Theres a risk involved and extra fees to be paid to the State. The best thing to do is to suck it up and take it or dont buy guns, thats your options. As long as the laws keep the dealers from doing buisness like most every other State in the Country, they have the customer by the gonads. The trick is to find the dealers that do not exploit this (dis)advantage and deal with them, the dealers who do will be out of buisness eventually. Word of mouth is a pain.

mapquest says its 37 miles from bakersfield to taft. so round trip( twice) gives ya what, 148 miles if my math is right. ask him what his mpg is for his car. then ask what his time is worth spent in travel.

lets say 15 mpg at approx 3 bucks a gallon. 30 bucks in gas not to mention wear on his car.

if he drives a big truck....... ouch.

I just appreciate that 10% cares enough to put together a thoughful, honest answer to a potential customers. Most companies wouldn't even bother to respond or if they did, they would give a bs answer.

I haven't been down honey run road in many years, As im sure you remember there are a lot of twisty turns and switch backs not a friendly road in anything over the length of a VW.

But are you talking about Centerville ?

I honestly dont remember a area that anyone local called hell.

Last time I remember was probably 20 years ago riding a bike from Chico up 32 (?) to Honey Run, and somewhere in the vicinity of the covered bridge, but before Honey Run started its twisty way up, was a standard road sign pointing to Hell, 3 miles. That's the most recent memory I have. For some reason I never investigated before or after, I have never been there.
