Do you want a CQB optic? Close Quarters Battle isn't shooting steel. I've used lots of optics for CQB. I've used ACOGs, EoTechs, Aimpoints, Leupold CQ/T (which sucks). Anything with magnification sucks for CQB. I'd run an Aimpoint or irons for true CQB, and in truth, you probably will be point shooting half the time anyway.

You seem to have absolutely no idea what you're asking for. You want something packed with features, compact, and cheap all at the same time. That is simply not going to happen.

As other people have pointed out, why do you need magnification for "cqb"? Why do you think competition means "cqb"? Why in the world would you want to cheap out for competition gear? The sheer fact that a compact feature packed scope is precisely why they're so expensive. Also, if you want a CQB optic, why do you need bullet drop marks?

Also, if you already knew about the Burris AR-332, and it suits what you want, then just go buy it. Why post?

well if you read the post one of the members told me about it.
Next thing I know misinformed people started talking about aim points and eotechs are the same and that I don't know anything.

Take a look @ Leatherwood CMR. It goes for around $300 with Burris PEPR mounts from SWFA.

              Okay, it's quite simple.

An optic suited for close quarters battle will not magnify or have a bullet drop compensator. They aren't needed, because your target is too close to you for bullet drop to matter, and you can see it just fine with your unaided eyes.

An optic with magnification and a bullet drop compensator reticule will not be very good for close quarters battle. Magnification improves visibility at long distance, but at close range will leave you almost as unable to see s#!t as Ray Charles.

If you are dead set on having an optic that can do both of these things, and you have a buttload of money, get an Elcan SpecterDR. It is a 1x/4x optic.

Sightmark makes a 1.5-5x scope that might work for you. You can find it here...

It's not illuminated but they will have a 1-6x illuminated coming out soon.

I agree that your requirements are hard but I understand. In the value end market, there are not a lot of options. Sadly the IOR Bulldog is 1800.

You might like the combo of something like the Primary Arms micro red dot with a 4 or 5x magnifier. Lucid optics just released an adjustable 2.-5x magnifier as well. Runs for 220ish.

                  Good luck!

This thread lost me once it turned into another AP vs. EOTech thread. The only scope that meets your parameters (mostly) has been mentioned. The Burris TAC-30. The CMR is nice but the reticule is not daylight illuminated, from the one that I've seen. I've also played with the Nikon at the range.. still would choose the TAC-30.
And as others have said, there are no variable scopes that are 'compact', except maybe the Elcan Spectre.
