    Going to the Range

Haven't been to the range in a month or more. I don't like to see my wife go (though I do like to watch her leave ), but since she's taking the kids out of town for the night, I think I might take the opportunity and throw myself a party.

Not only am I going to put a couple of hundred rounds through my Ruger 22/45, I think I might rent something big, mean, and ugly, just for a change of pace. Any recommendations?

Rent a 1911. BTW you'r probably gonna need a partner to rent a firearm.

Actually, I don't. For two reasons:
      1. I have a membership at the range. Members can rent, for free, anything they want, partner or no.
      2. I'm bringing my own gun (my Ruger). Anyone, member or not, who brings their own weapon can rent without a partner.

Big, mean, and ugly? Depends on what range you go to since some may allow certain calibers or firearms over others (shotguns, .223 or larger rifle calibers, .50 handgun calibers, etc).

Most ranges should probably have a .44 Mag revolver. Play with that if you want something big, mean, and ugly.

Don't know about the "ugly" part, but I would second the .44 Mag revolver. With the right loads it can have some real kick to it.

Rent a S&W .500 magnum if you want power and noise. Ammo is not considered cheap by most folks, close to or above $2 per round.
