    Renter Friendly Gun Safe?

I've been researching this one, especially after Fuse's unfortunate incident. I have no issue with buying a proper safe when I get my own place but for now I am still a bit of gypsy and I need to be mobile, at least to move one more time...

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...&postcount=129 - Mentioned Zanotti and Dakota, are there any other options out there. I am primarily concerned with theft and mobility. I am looking for a 10-14 gun safe. If anyone has experience with a Zanotti I would appreciate any input.

Bolt it down, bolt it down, bolt it down.

If you put it in the back corner of your closet it will be difficult to use pry bars on the door. If you can get four of those big honking wood screws into some wall studs and four more into the floor it won't go anywhere soon.

The best Gun Safe is the one the robbers never find.

I have a Zanotti ZA-1(the smallest one). I'm happy with it. I carried the parts upstairs and assembled it by myself. It's pretty easy to assemble and disassemble, and the fit and finish was good, and it appears to be as secure as a comparable sized standard safe.

You can bolt one down in the garage of a rental. Just drill the holes deep. When you are ready to move, just hammer the anchor bolts down all the way into the cement.

If you are really concerned about the deposit or issues with the land lord, you could always get a $5.00 bag of cement and mix 1 cup of it up and fill in the holes before your final inspection.

I am sure you are clever enough to figure out how to disguise the safe enough to make it not stand out.

Carefully pull back the carpet in a closet to the concrete slab. You can then bolt the safe directly to the slab.

When you move out, put the carpet back in place with some carpeting adhesive or liquid nails.

If you have to bolt the safe to studs in the walls, that's even easier to repair and make look good.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
