    Words cannot describe...

...how ****ing RETARDED Turners is. I met with another Calgunner a couple of days ago to do a PPT at the West Covina Turners. The entire process took 40 minutes even though the clerk helping us wasn't helping anybody else and we got there at 10am when they opened, but that's an entirely separate issue.

While looking the gun over about halfway through the PPT, the clerk asked us if any there were any magazines included with the gun. I had the magazines in my car and was going to give them to the buyer afterward so I told him that no magazines were included. He stopped what he was doing and told us that a magazine had to be included with the gun for a PPT unless we were law enforcement. The equally retarded manager in the black shirt voiced his opinion and said, "Yep, need a magazine with that." I scoffed, walked out, brought back a magazine and we [finally] completed the PPT.

I wonder if I should send an e-mail to the equally idiotic and incompetent upper management and see what kind of fairy tale excuse I receive when I ask them to cite a source to support their claims.

I am not trying to excuse their behavior but maybe they were thinking they need a mag for when the safety test is done. Otherwise there is no real reason to have a mag in with with the gun. Ive done PPTs and taken the mags with me. I was jsut told to bring one back and signed on the receipt that I was taking the mags with me

They must be trying to CYA as far as the possiblity of you using the standard cap mags. If they ppt it with a Cal nutered mag, they can say its not their fault if you get busted with a stock mag?

What kind of gun was it? Long gun or handgun?

It's for the safety test. I did a ppt at target masters and they required a mag for the safety test. Once the guy did the test they gave us the mag back and they just held the gun for the 10 days.

I use Evan's gunsmithing in Orange.. I just did a transfer of a USC HK there and it took under 30 minutes.. they are also family owned and very nice. And the biggest bonus is that they have a range and you can shoot before you buy or shoot while the gun is on the 10 day DROS... always a good experience there.

But, I do see Turner's point.. sorta hard to do the MANDATED safety test without a magazine.. I think you should blame the state for that one.

I have bought 2 pistols, one of them came from Turners. I have NEVER done the safety test.

So how will they safety test a 1911?

No safe handling demonstration was done and I've done a handful of PPT's at Turners and other places where no magazines had to be left behind with the gun.

Safety test? I had to do one when I got my first BHSC. Not the second or at any of my PPT purchases. Hand or long gun. Scored 100 on the "gun safety for dummies" test and the FFL looked at me like he had never seen that before. Scary thought...
Just bought a 45 Colt. Picked her up on May 10th. No safety test. But maybe when I was checking the cylinders for barrel alignment, He saw I was familiar with the Colt.
Is this mandated for only the first purchase? What's the PC?

As ****ed up as some of the stuff they have to do is, there is a reason for all of it. Sometimes it's easier to over do things than to run the risk of upsetting the city/county/state. It's not the salesmans fault, it's not the department managers fault, it's not the store managers fault. They do what they get told to do, so that they can keep their jobs. Most of it is just CYA stuff.

Oh, I thought they meant magazine safety test.

I've never been asked to do any "safety" test......with or without the magazine

Funny thing is once in a while, Turners will sell a consignment gun without magazine.
