RCBS Powder Dispenser vs K31 Schmidt Rubin?

OK, I felt bad for a newb reloader so I put together a package with my extra single stage Rockchucker I had stored away, I load mostly pistol and small rifle calibers (223 and 6x45) lately, so I thought I'd include my Redding 3BR powder measure in the package. It was a bad idea, as now I do not have a consistent powder measure for my 260, 308 and 270 needs. But I was able to help someone started in reloading.. so it was not a waste.

My "need" more like "want" of late is a Schmidt Rubin K31, been reading up on these and getting the scratch to get one on order. My delima.. already spent my budget this month on gunstuff (picked up a P38 earlier this month).

The RCBS Dispenser shipped is about $200
    or
    the K31 is $325 shipped..might as well buy ammo too $100...total $425

what to do, what to do...

You should be able to find them in the low $200. Last time Allan's Armory had them, he had some at $175.
I would buy the K31 1st and buy some boxer primed ammo so you can save the brass for reloading later.

I checked Allan's, he did not have any, JG has some for $219 but with shipping, it's $250. I have an account with Wideners and they have with bayonets for $299.. shipping is $25.. Third option is OC Gunshow in a couple of weeks, don't know if any reasonable K31 avail there..

It's rediculously accurate with powders like H110, 296, 748, & H335. With varget and RL15, it's within .2 gr if you have a fishpump attached to it. it hate RL19 but not bad....

Since I sold my 3BR, it gives me a reason to try something new like a dispenser...

Yeah, I saw Wideners and I was surprised that they only sell it with the bayonets. I guess all their K31's have a matching bayonet. If they are not matching they should sell them separately.

Fish pump? What do you mean by that? Are you talking about pressurizing the powder holder?

no, it's an air pump for the fish tank $7 at walmart, you tie wrap it to your powder measure and turn it on, the vibration makes the powder pack down uniformly yeild consistency

Thanks low-pressure for the heads up, I ended up getting this one:
Schmidt Rubin K31 Short Rifle. {7.5mm Swiss}. Serial # 911421. Manufactured in 1948. Wood is in G+ condition overall, beech, with cartouche on butt stock. Metal finish 85% overall with nice crest on receiver ring. Matching numbers stamped on the receiver, bolt, and mag. (I haven't removed the wood to check the stock and hand guard). Has troop tag under butt plate. Bore has VG+ to Excellent lands, grooves have mirror shine. $200

total with shipping was $240.. Reason I went with this route is Allen has a reputation of grading his guns correctly so you know know what you are getting, for me it was the bore condition.

Congratulations! I hope you will be happy with your purchase.
After I sent you the pm, I ended up buying the one at the end of the page too! He has the best prices on them. If this one is as nice as the other I bought from him last year I'll be real happy.
