Single shot exemption - need help

Can some one explain how, exactly the single shot exemption for off roster guns works, and any FFL's that would be willing complete said transaction?

Yeah i did that....don't really care for the search function on the forum...it doesn't really help all that much.

ETA: also that doesn't really answer my question. HOW do i go about getting this done? are there manufacturers who will do this? how hard is it to get accomplished? ETC....

There's a list of FFLs doing the work in that post; find one near you and call them.

You can use the Google Search and it works great. I put the link for it below, however if you look at the main header above at the very upper right you will see where it says CGN GOOGLE SEARCH.

And if you go back and read the link that Bitteroldman posted it gives complete directions on what needs to be done. Read , Read and Read it again until you understand it.

Contact a 07-FFL or out-of-state FFL that offers the service, order what you want and have it shipped to your CA FFL dealer.

Since, you are in Hemet. Bright Spot Pawn in Riverside can assist you in obtaining certain types of a single-shot pistols and will transfer any single-shot pistol you have shipped to them.

You need to find a dealer out of state or middleman ffl who will be willing to make the changes for you before it comes into CA.

Alternatively, an 07/Manufacturer FFL IN the state of CA can accept the pistol and make the modifications before transferring it to you, or shipping it to a local FFL for you to take possession from.

Once you've got the firearm in your possesion (after DROS, 4473 and 10-day wait) then you are free to return it to factory configuration, whatever that may be.

As far as how hard it is, well then that depends. If you're trying to get some bizarre firearm that no one's ever heard of, you might have a lot of difficulty making the 6" barrel minimum and 10.5" overall length minimum. If it's something like a 1911, aftermarket barrels, sleds, and maglocks exist already to make the conversion rather easy.
