Laser Bullets, what kind is best.

I was at my local shooting range today, and a young gentleman was shooting real well. I asked him what he felt contributed to his great marksmanship with his 1911, and he said he uses a laser bullet to practice trigger control (when dry firing) and sees if he is moving up, down, or side to side as the laser goes off when he pulls the trigger. He also said that you can purchase contact targets to see where you are aiming when the gun fires. I didn't get the name of the brand he uses. Has anyone here used this method or hear of anyone else getting positive results from this. Is one brand better than others

Might he be talking about the LaserLyte system?

I've seen this mentioned a few times on CalGuns before. Haven't personally tried it, but it does look interesting.

not a boresighter, those stay on at all times and are independent of the trigger & and you don't dry fire with them

Here's a video of the Laserlyte system. The target he is shooting at is an additional accessory.

And I thought practicing with live ammo was expensive....

The 45ACP laser cartridge is $99
            The target is another $199

Might be worth every penny if I can shrink my pattern from putting 300 rounds of 45acp in a 5 inch target from 30 feet to a 2 to 3 inch pattern.

I just picked up the laserlyte set from midway. I'll post an AAR.

Your goal isn't too difficult. My free advise is to shoot slower; 300 rnds per range session is a lot frankly try 50 and make everyone count. Go over the fundamentals (NRA basic pistol) and do it for each of those 50 rounds.

If you are in the bay area, I'll meet you at a range and get you to your goal (based on teaching my newbie friends) in 1 range session and 100 rounds or less. Oh, for free too, of course.
