    Idiot Scratch Help !!!

I just purchased a Colt 1911 in Stainless . It came with what you call an idiot scratch. Is there anyway to remove it ? Maybe polishing it or lightly sanding it. Its really not to deep . I am afraid of ruining it . Its not a high polish .

Pictures are kind of hard to see can you make them any smaller?

If you want it to match the rest of the duller finish it will have to be bead blasted.. If your in So Ca I know a guy in Corona, pm me....

ps---there is a modification of the slide lock that will eliminate doing it again...

It's going to happen. I suggest leaving them. Then when you do it, it's no big deal. When buying used guns I consider any existing marks 'character'. Also, when dealing with metal blemishes the first is the worst, so 'what's the big deal with another slice off a cut loaf?'

I wouldn't worry about it. Guns get used and they get blemished. Use it for competition for a little bit and it will pick up more prominent marks than that.

Give it a week or two, you won't care about it anymore.

What scratch? I see nothing... If it is on the slide release, You'll eventually only make it deeper, Forget about it.

You bought a gun. It goes bang with little explosions, sends projectiles hundreds or thousands of feet per seconds through a tube, slams back and forth, gets greasy and dirty, makes loud noises, and throws wads of lead 100 yards or more.

Unless you were buying a museum piece(and if you were then you should have inspected it first), there's no point in worrying about it. If anything it's an incentive to put your own wear marks on it instead of leaving it as a safe queen.
