    gun shows in so cal?

Does anyone know of any good gun shows in southern cali? I went to the one in Pomona a couple times and am still pissed they don't have it there anymore. Also, where can I get an sks? Turners has crap quality for $200 and all of the pawn shops in my area no longer deal with guns.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check it out. As far as the sks, Turners charges 80 bucks for the transfer on top of the 30 for the DROS, not a great deal that way. Unless you know a better (cheaper) way.

if you think you are going to get a better deal on an SKS at a gun show, you should prepare for disappointment.

Is there any good deals at the gun shows anymore?
                Not counting ammo from Millwal?

                    and beanie babies.

seriously, there are always many good deals, but not on popular firearms.

if you like airsoft, jewlery, jerky, smelly people, and bamboo fighting sticks (dont know how they work most of the time they just sat there, I though they would fight each other) then go the the CM show. I feel its a big waste of time and money unless you like old over priced guns and people telling you a compact foreend for a keltec is illegal.

maybe I have better luck, but I find deals on powder, ammo (not just Miwall), ammo cans, flashlights, cheap camo clothing, cleaning supplies, gun parts, some guns, and more, and it's always better than spending the same amount of money on a movie. I like to see the stuff and BS with the people, too.

...that and guys that give you a sneer and an attitude of "please don't buy MY guns" because they have their personal collection strewn across the table, not really wanting to let any of them go, and don't put prices on them so they can tell you a ridiculous price for fear they might have to actually sell their babies, and maybe if they do, they can get a sucker bite (for those few tables actually are selling guns and not plastic katanas with Powerranger sheath!). Gun shows in CA have really gone down hill, becoming little more than flea-markets for people that have no rudimentary computer skills.

Honestly, if you want a deal on an SKS, just wait until Turner's puts them on sale. $200 does not sound like their sale price - they usually put them up for $179 on Yugos from Century and $159 on Chinese (which they don't often get anymore). Martin B. Retting, Inc. on Washington Blvd., in Culver City had out-of-the-crate Yugos about a year ago, still in cosmoline, for $179 - $200 depending on condition, but not sure if they still have them. Thoies were REAL nice - looked like they wee made yesterday with good qualaity woods and finish.

You can hunt around gun shows, but consider that the time spent hunting for a deal, to pay for entrance, to pay for parking, to DROS it and then drive to some ungodly place to pick it up after your 10 day wait, and that you will likely be buying something that someone has well-shot out the barrel or let sit in a back damp room in their store or basement for 4 years as threy tried selling it for $275, with it bearing scratches and wear, you are not saving any money, you are actually paying in the range of $300 to $375 when adding up the above. I doubt you will find a lower price than $250 at a gun show. And you are sure to be tols it is a "Russian" model, with a jacked price, when in fact it is probably a Turkish gun.

Understandably everyone wants to save money, but when does hunting to save $25 become an expense itself? Quite different when you are considering a savings of $500 or more on an M1A M25, but on an SKS? Just get the one at Turner's when on sale: they sure won't be running out of them as these are more than plentiful.

Be patient and wait until Turner's has them on sale again - they put them up at least once a month in their weeklay ads.

                          Good luck!!

I bought mine at Turners. One was in "good" condition for $200 and an excellent for $229, which I bought. They had a sale about 2 weeks ago which dropped the price to the mid $100s.

I only go to the shows for ammo and miscellaneous shooting supplies. I see lots of nice guns laying around on the tables but RARELY at a good price (mostly OVERpriced).

Turner's had Yugos on sale for $149 the last wk of Dec. This was the lowest I've seen Turner's go on the SKS (they usually go on sale for $179).
