Are you one of the sworn users of one type of product like say Magpul, Larue, Daniel Defense? When someone suggest you try something out do you refuse because American Defense didn't build it? Is your whole rifle from one company and one company only cause that company to you makes better stuff? Will you pick anything from that company cause it's there brand? I know alot of you are like this. I have seen the hatred towards names like Stag, Rock River, Burris, and so on. So I ask are you a Name Brand Ninja? Comments?

ARE YOU A "NAME BRAND NINJA"?

I will buy stuff that I know has a solid reputation whether its daniel defense, spikes tactical, cz, colt, ect. I had a spikes tactical ar and I have heard a lot of people crap on them but I never had a single problem with it. I sold the upper to a fellow cal gunner because I wanted a mid length upper and I got a bcm but I wouldnt hesitate to buy spikes again.Originally posted by barrageThat's because Excelsior threads are like toilet bowls. A few years ago I decided I would only buy the best quality available for stuff that actually matters, some brands happen to be just that, the best quality. If what I wants happens to be more expensive than other options, then I'll just wait and save up the money needed.
I have a RRA, its served me just fine for what I ask of it, however I wouldn't use it for serious hard use and expect it to hold up as well as a BCM, Noveske, Colt, LMT, LWRS, etc.

I just don't like sh*t that's made in China. If it says MADE IN USA, it's good by me.
But I also tend to give LaRue, LMT, and Leupold(and Adams Arms to a degree) the first look when looking for a particular item. I just believe strongly in their products.sigpicComment

My rifles consist of parts from everyone. From JD lowers to Rock river lpk, vltor handguard, magpul stock. I wouldn't mind having a POF or noveske complete rifle, just can't justify spending that kind of $$.Comment

I ask of this thread what is the reasoning behind it? I was in service for a couple of years and have used some cool toys. I know that some of these brand names make there money of the military. What I don't get is how a Noveske is better then a .....POF, LWRC, or a Stag is lesser then a Daniel D. Hey don't get me wrong I like a good quality product, too, but man some are sooo expensive what is there justification? What there claim to fame? I can tell you if they say the military uses it then I say " lower bidder anyone".The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.

That's cause you're a commie! LOL
Also some people would be amazed to know that some of the Chinese stuff is getting better in qualilty and some of the name brand guys are making there parts in eastern Europe or South America.

scary, but very very true. Its all part of globalization. There is no place for nationalism in the economy anymore.
Never the less, Im not that big of a "brand guy."
There are some companies, where I like most of what they make, but in simple terms, good gear is good gear.
If anything, there are some companies that Im just turned off by (Keltec or I.O. as an example)
But people like to cling to brands, images and concepts. Developing a group ID is very important for most people, and in a capitalist society it often takes form in brand loyalty.
I find a lot of people who have VERY strong levels of brand loyalty dont really have good reasons behind it (not all people mind you).
When people automatically accept something to be good or true without any reason (such as a brand) they will often use the same mechanism to defend it. Just like religion

I love this topic! Sort of a spin-off on the whole Mall Ninja subject.
With that being said, I try to buy subjectively. Maybe because I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to buy anything that perks my interest. I've bought atleast 2-3 products from every manufacturer named so far, and quite a few pieces from manufacturers yet to be mentioned. And the stuff that doesn't seem to work for me, I'll sell off real quick. The parts that work for me, I tend to hang on to.
JD Machine, MagPul, Troy, EoTech & Noveske will continue to earn my business until either their parts and/or customer services fail me.MagPul MPLA

I agree but some people are so brand loyalist they will buy it cause it has the symbol on it! I love seeing guys with the " Gunfighter" sticker on there buttstock. Hey, don't get it twisted! I got a BCM upper and waited for the BCG to install it! I love Daneila Defense rails for the none free floater guy. But what I was really referring to in this thread is if it's not a name brand that's known and just coming up. Would you get it!?scary, but very very true. Its all part of globalization.
