    Traveling to vegas

    So it's my birthday, and i'm off to vegas in a couple weeks.

    Mainly i was just wondering if nevadas' gun laws were more or less strict than Ca's.
    I plan on taking my 'Just in case' with me traveling in the trunk. Was mainly wondering about hi-cap mags and their legality. Is it legal to have handguns in Vegas' metro area? Basically i am completely ignorant and have no idea. Help me out.

      NV is less strict than CA.

      Open carry is legal in NV.
      It is also legal to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle as long as it is not concealed upon your person.

      So, for example...
      ... loaded handgun openly(non-concealed) holstered on you is legal.
      ... loaded handgun in vehicle's glove/utility compartment or on the seat next to you or under your seat or on the dashboard is all legal.
      ... loaded handgun concealed on you or in a portable container (bag/case/purse/etc.) is not legal, unless you have a valid CCW permit.

          I am not an expert, but have heard that in the city Of Las Vegas guns are frowned upon. The casino's dont want the tourists to get freaked out so security and/or Police will make an issue about any gun in the city.

              LVMPD recommends that you do not open carry where the tourists are at (the Strip, casinos, malls) in Las Vegas. This is because some tourists are from places where civilians can not legally own firearms and they will call the cops with a "man with a gun" call.
              It's legal to open carry in those areas. But, you will most likely be contacted by LVMPD. The ACLU of NV has been working on LVMPD to change their procedure in making contact with open carriers to be less harsh.

              LVMPD has no problems with open carriers in other parts of Las Vegas.
              North Las Vegas PD has also lightened up on open carriers in North Las Vegas.

              If you carry on private property and the owners/operator of that property discovers you carrying, they can legally ask you to leave property. If you refuse to leave, you can be cited for tresspassing.
