Sorta, you could mount a section of rail under the handguard and attach the VFG that way. But it isn't as stable as a full quad rail(\__/)

I wanted the normal handguard look and to also add a forward pistol grip so this is what I ordered. It has a top and bottom rail but when not in use it's covered up and looks normal by the cover plate. I cut a section of the cover plate out of the bottom so I could put on the pistol grip and the two pieces of the cover plate so the whole rail wasn't visible.
Here's the finished product. Very sturdy.

With an ADD-A-RAIL kit. Many different brands and versions available.
Any of the ones here will work EXCEPT for the Magpul brand ones which are for Magpul MOE Handguards.
