If you already have a home-based FFL, you can add the SOT just by paying the extra fees. Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

this.
but if ATF feels that you are using the SOT to merely enhance your "Class 3" collection, they can void your SOT, and have even gone after people for tax evasion for not paying the Form 4 $200 for each NFA firearm (or so I've heard).
Now, you are aware that an SOT has limited benefit in CA? mainly to sell AOWs. You can also get suppressors for LEA/.mil sales. Anything else and you need to get CADOJ Dangerous Weapons permits to get SBS, SBR, DD (over .60"), and MGs.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

A Class 2 SOT would require a Type 07-FFL.
So, if you are a Type 01-FFL, you will need to change. Not sure how that will impact a "home based FFL". Since, your location may have to be zoned for manufacturing(?).Last edited by Quiet; 05-12-2011, 11:48 PM.sigpic

D'Oh. You're right.
But, if he had a home based 01 FFL he could still get his Class 3 SOT by just paying the fees. Please read the Calguns Wiki
