    Private party transfer potential problems?

This is my first post here and hope this question is in the right place.

I'm going to be buying a gun from my sister and transferring ownership to me. I went over questions with the guy at the gun store and he said aside from the main reasons a transfer could be denied (felonies, domestic violence, etc) he said that any pending issues with the DMV from either party could stop the transfer. Both of us have perfect DMV status but if one of us owes back state tax would that stop the transfer? Is there any other things that would get the transfer denied?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

OK, so now I'm lost. Can owing Ca state tax prohibit you from getting a handgun transferred to you? The first person answered probably not, so I guess I'm going with that. So why the other two responses? I'm just looking for help from people who are knowledgeable in this situation.

            Thanks.

It depends on how much you owe and how badly they want it. The stories I usualy hear where someone is denied for DMV fees or other money reasions is actualy because of a bench warrent. the other response was about an intra family transfer which you cant do since it's from your sister, not your father or mother.

handgun or long gun? Sounds like a handgun, but you have to be clear. Next question is are your mom or dad around?

Handgun, Glock 19. And both my parents are around.

I did call the DOJ today and verified. Owed taxes are not an issue with a gun transfer unless there is some sort of criminal charges associated with it.

So thanks for the replies. Looks like it will go smoothly. I'll probably be posting on the CCW forum with some questions later. Thanks all.
